After graduating from Ball State In 2001 with a degree In Journalism, Emily worked for the Indianapolis Star In their Online News and Information Department, managing website content and updates. She also was a staff writer for a weekly newspaper In Kokomo, Indiana. Her byline has been featured in Indianapolis Woman magazine and several smaller publications.

Emily began her career In the legal field at Stevens & Associates in 2003, using her interviewing and writing skills to support two attorneys in estate and elder law and assisting clients with probating wills, guardianships, Medicaid and end-of-life planning. She also assisted four attorneys in the Corporate Law Department at Winston & Strawn In Chicago, Illinois.

Emily joined Hovde Dassow & Deets in 2006 as a legal assistant to the senior partner, F. Boyd Hovde. Currently, Emily facilitates the administration of medical malpractice, wrongful death and personal injury cases. She assists clients with the discovery process, prepares pleadings and legal correspondence and works with courts to ensure proper case administration. She also works in pharmaceutical litigation.

Emily works closely with Helping Hands of Hamilton County, working with the needy. While in Kokomo, she began reading with the blind and has continued this through the years. She also enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, Kyle, and two little boys, Nathan and Dylan.
