The American Association for Justice works to preserve the constitutional right to trial by jury and to make sure people have a fair chance to receive justice through the legal system when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others—even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations.
The following is a joint statement from current American Association for Justice (AAJ) President Kathleen Nastri and incoming President Elise Sanguinetti on the nomination of U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court:
“The United States Supreme Court has issued devastating decisions this year that impact the lives of every American and tip the scales further in favor of big corporations. Now more than ever, we need a Supreme Court justice who will provide badly needed balance to the highest federal court of the United States and be committed to protecting our right to seek justice in court.
“Judge Kavanaugh has time and again sided with corporations, even when it meant risking the safety of families on our nation’s roadways or denying workers their right to band together to hold employers accountable in court for unfair labor practices. We urge the Senate to make workers, investors, consumers, and families a priority when they debate Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination, by standing against the appointment of this corporate puppet to the Court.”
