A man recently passed away in a tragic Indiana car crash involving three vehicles. In addition, two other people suffered injuries in the accident. Often, these types of motor vehicle accidents happen as a result of a driver’s carelessness behind the wheel, which is grounds for litigation.
The recent accident took place at a little before 4:30 p.m. on a Friday. According to police, the crash took place when a car heading east along a street was attempting to pass multiple automobiles. The driver then reportedly tried to return to its lane but ended up clipping the back part of a second car.
The second car then entered the westbound lane, where it struck a third automobile head-on. The 47-year-old driver of the second car was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Meanwhile, the drivers of the two other cars suffered injuries and were taken to a medical center. Police said they believed that unsafe passing and speed were causal factors in the fatal collision.
The family members of the man who passed away in the car accident may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver of the first car, seeking the reimbursement of damages. Likewise, the injured driver of the third car may choose to file a personal injury claim. If the plaintiffs are able to establish liability in an Indiana civil court, based upon a showing of negligence, they will likely be entitled to a judgment for monetary damages. These awards may help them to cover funeral costs, hospital bills, lost wages and other expenses associated with these types of motor vehicle accidents.
